Great article! There is so much frustration among us old school folks in dealing with this but we have to cope somehow. I've been fortunate in that teaching has always been my avocation and not my primary source of income, so I can keep the cost reasonable and tolerate working with a smaller dedicated group. Still it is hard to explain to a student why he or she is a greenbelt when their friends who train the same amount and are at a similar skill level are 2nd Dan at a school across town. We don't want to criticize the other school but we have to explain the difference. It's not easy remaining true to your roots.
